8-figure Marc to move to Dior for $10m?

WWD reported that Jacobs and Duffy, already among the highest-paid individuals in the fashion industry, are seeking a salary in the low eight figures each—or around $10m, plus benefits.

Moving to Dior would saddle Jacobs with a heavier workload than his current obligations at Louis Vuitton, adding two couture collections to the two ready-to-wear and two pre-collections to which he is accustomed. The detailed, craftsmanship-orientated nature of the Dior brand would also, WWD suggested, require Jacobs to spend more time in Paris overseeing the atelier.

The much-discussed move hasn’t shifted LVMH’s share price, with financial analysts brushing away the effect of a new artistic director.

‘In this day and age, for a brand the size of Louis Vuitton or Christian Dior, we tend to believe that artistic directors only account for a small portion of the brand’s attribute, Antoine Belge, HSBC’s head of consumer brands and retail equity research in Paris, said. ‘We therefore do not immediately factor in a change in artistic director into our valuation of the brand.’
