The American glasses e-tailer showcased its fine frames with a guerrilla show at the New York Public Library. Instead of the typical runway strut, this show consisted of bespectacled models sitting at four tables in the Bryant Park buildings famous reading room, apparently absorbed in their books.
What were they reading? We cant be sure, as the books were transformed into placards advertising the name of each models glasses frame style through the clever addition of French-blue covers.
The location was more than just a witty way to present glasses-wearers in their natural habitat. Library officials wouldnt have known it (they werent alerted to the show at all), but brand founders Neil Blumenthal and Dave Gilboa chose their labels name from an exhibition of Jack Kerouacs unpublished journals in the NYPLs hallowed hallsWarby and Parker appeared in the beat poets pages.
We sense the start of a beautiful fashion-week book club tradition... care to join us, Griffin and Spencer?
