Juicy founders script second act

Juicy Couture co-founders Pamela Skaist-Levy and Gela Nash-Taylor are embarking on a new fashion project, Skaist-Taylor.

The best friends and entrepreneurs built Juicy into a billion-dollar juggernaut before parting with corporate owners Liz Claiborne Inc in 2010. Having reached the end of their 18-month non-compete agreement, the pair are preparing to launch a complete line of standout pieces, they told WWD.

The line is autobiographical, Nash-Taylor said of the forthcoming California-centric label. It feels so right and so good to be doing what we love to do. That is, creating things that we want to wear, that were into right now, that feel authentic to us.

The line wont debut until February 2012 for A/W 12 sales, but its sure to make a splash. Not for the former doyennes of hot-pink velour track suits any quiet openinginstead, theyre planning a presentation for New York Fashion Week in February 2012, designed by Anglomania curator Patrick Kinmouth.

Skaist-Levy and Nash-Taylor are also penning a book about the ups and ups of their careers in clothes. But the women say that the most important aspect of their partnership is its enduring nature.

I think having a partnership, someone you can create with, someone you can share with, and do the thing you really love to do the most.... I think were the luckiest girls in the world. Skaist-Taylor is a dream come true, Skaist-Levy said.
