The doe-eyed model joins Carey Mulligan, Leonardo DiCaprio, Isla Fisher and Tobey Maguire in the cast of the F. Scott Fitzgerald adaptation. Shooting on the film starts next week in Luhrmann and Wards native Australia.
Once an avid runway model, Ward turned her attention away from the catwalk following the death of close friend Heath Ledger in 2008. She went on to prove her acting mettle in The Black Balloon, an Australian art-house film, then made a siren turn as Tamara, Queen of the Mermaids in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.
Most of the memorable female parts in Fitzgeralds Jazz Age tale have already been castMulligan will play Daisy Buchanan, Fisher appears as other woman Myrtle Wilson, and recent drama school graduate Elizabeth Debicki landed the role of lady golfer Jordan Baker. That leaves... well, no one major, but possibly Wilsons sister Catherine, or her New York friend Lucille McKee.
Either way, were sure Ward will make any character memorable.
