But check out Skate Moss. The stiletto-heeled boots from DSquared2 have ice-skating blades moulded onto the soles. Theyre sharp, gleaming and, believe it or not, made for walking: models wore them in the labels A/W 11 runway show in Milan with Western-style shirts, ten-gallon hats and holster-ready jeans.
We view these as the latest step in fashion's long fascination with figure skating. Vera Wang only entered the industry after narrowly missing a spot on the US Olympic figure skating team. Versus, Louise Goldin and Acne have all shown flippy-hemmed skater dresses, and Lacoste even made a mid-heel ice-skate boot (sans blade).
These boots will be available on endless.com next month, for about £900 to £1,160. Just think of the skate-rental fees you'll save...
