The exhibition at Mayfairs Gimpel Fils Gallery, opening on September 1, will feature Days early projects for The Face alongside previously unseen work.
Days most enduring contribution to fashion photography may have been her unstudied snapshot aesthetic. Among her most recognisable images are those of the young Kate Moss
. The supermodel, a gangly teenager during their early-90s shoots, ranges across Days photographs alongside peers such as Lorraine Pascale and Rosemary Ferguson.
She really did dedicate her life to making pictures, Gimpel Fils Co-Director Jackie Haliday said. Thats what she always used to talk about. One of the things I loved so much about Corinne was that she was very low-key. For her it was all about the image, and perhaps the way the light fell, or the construction of the image....
The strength of Corinne was that for her it was all about the work. It wasnt about anything else.
An accompanying book called Heaven is Real features essays about Days work and nearly 100 photographs.
Day passed away last August following a protracted battle with brain cancer.
