See Deborah Turbeville's tainted beauty at Donna Karan

Deborah Turbeville first entranced the fashion sphere with her distressed, otherworldly photographs in 1975. Her images of models in bathhouses, wintry forest-scapes and glassed-in storefronts bear scratches, masking tape and other signs of intervention that lend them a three-dimensional air.

Art appreciators and fashion fans alike will have the chance to consider Turbevilles broken-doll aesthetic on an intimate scale through an exhibition at Donna Karans Conduit Street store. The display, curated by Wapping Project Director Jules Wright, opens in time for London Fashion Week on September 8.

Visitors will come face-to-face with photographs beloved by Karl Lagerfeld, Jacqueline Onassis and Rei Kawakubo. Its Turbevilles insistence on layered, flawed beauty that reeled such tastemakers and countless other admirers in.

Perhaps the most interesting thing about my photographs is that they are a little bit of an enigma; they are hard to place, Turbeville has said of her work. Its a riddle we cant wait to wrap our heads around.
