Giambattista Valli for Macy's is on the way

With his layers of tulle, swathes of feathers and floor-sweeping ball gowns, Giambattista Valli isnt the sort of designer whose wares you might expect to find on the high street. The go-to dresser of socialites and ladies who lunch recently expanded into still more exclusive echelons, showing his first couture collection in July.

But Valli is about to expand his reach to consumers who shop at Macys. The US department store chain enrolled Valli as the latest luxury designer to create a limited-edition collection. Called Giambattista Valli for Impulse Only at Macys, the collection will arrive in 225 stores on October 26.

The designs echo Vallis main line, with tulles, laces and brocades, but at a $50-150 price point.

Our customer loves fashion, Macys Executive Vice President of Marketing and Avertising Martine Reardon told WWD. [She] cant necessarily go to couture fashion shows and doesnt want to spend $1000.

Valli follows Kinder Aggugini, Matthew Williamson and Karl Lagerfeld into Impulses list of collaborators. Expect a collection focused on red and black pieces, with gold, grey and fuchsia accents.
