McQueen show breaks Met record

In another indication of its expectation-smashing success, 'Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty' has set a new record for attendance to a fashion exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

As of Sunday night, the show had drawn 582,000 visitors, breaking the previous record for 576,000 visitors to 2008s Superheroes: Fashion and Fantasy. Passing the half-million-visitor mark also makes the show a contender to join the August list of the top 20 exhibitions in the museums history.

The exhibitions final day is this Sunday, August 7. To meet demand, the museum will keep its doors open until midnight during the shows final weekend.
