Gaby Aghion, who founded Parisian fashion house in 1952, has died, aged 93.

The news was confirmed by current Chloé CEO Geoffroy de la Bourdonnaye.

Aghion will be remembered as a fashion visionary, who sought to break away from the formality of couture and bring a lightness and softness to her designs, pioneering the concept of ready-to-wear.

Chloé has since been a hotbed for nurturing phenomenal design talent – Karl Lagerfeld, Martine Sitbon, Stella McCartney and Phoebe Philo are all among its alumni – and over the years had expanded into accessories and fragrance with significant success.

Currently helmed by former director Clare Waight Keller, the label's s/s 2015 show will go ahead as planned at tomorrow.

One of Aghion's final wishes was that her passing shouldn't 'overwhelm' the show, WWD reports.
