The theme was strong and unerring, 1920s soft tailoring, with boxy pleated details on the hips and breasts of pieces in a mustard, champagne, navy and burgundy palette.

The use of fluid chiffon gave garments a sheer overlay which upped the romance factor, while kaleidoscopic prints kept the presentation lively.

Collarless coats were sweet, and among the most accomplished were ecru knitted shorts and cropped sweaters covered in diagonal cabling.

The cuts were utterly feminine and flattering, with long lines, which hung beautifully from the models - in fact the casting deserves a mention for being among the strongest from the day's shows.
