Jessica Chastain's latest role is certainly set to be a stylish one, with behind her wardrobe for A Most Violent Year

The designer opened the doors of his archive to the film's director, J.C. Chandor, and costume designer, Kasia Walicka-Maimone, to outfit Chastain for her latest turn, a crime drama set in New York in 1981. And while some of looks were designed especially for the film, most are original Armani designs from the 1980s.

Armani's involvement with films dates back to the same era – starting with Richard Gere's wardrobe in 1980 hit American Gigolo, and continuing right up to recent blockuster Wolf of Wall Street.

Elegant day dresses, a strapless evening gown, and trousers/shirt combinations all made the cut for Chastain, but it's the white belted trench coat that really got our attention. If only we could convince Mr Armani that we need access to the archive, too…
