We revealed the first fashionable details of the Saint Laurent Music Project last week. Now Daft Punk is the latest band hand-picked to star in moody ad campaign, shot by the label's inimitable designer, Hedi Slimane.

The Daft Punk-Saint Laurent partnership started last October when Slimane sent his debut collection down the runway to a 15-minute Daft Punk soundtrack, created specially for the occasion. In return, Slimane designed the stagewear for the French electro-pop duo’s latest tour – revealed in a video screened at the star-studded Coachella Festival on Friday.

This isn’t any old stagewear: Daft Punk is decked out in bespoke Le Smoking jackets, studded with black glitter.

Other stars who have been shot by Slimane for the campaign include Marilyn Manson, Courtney Love (shot in her NY townhouse wearing her favourite items from his pre-fall and ), Ariel Pink, and Kim Gordon.

Music Project is said to be inspired by the YSL-rock connection established in 1971 when founder, Yves Saint Laurent, dressed Bianca Jagger for her rock ‘n’ roll wedding to Mick Jagger. It seems Slimane has his eyes on a rock ‘n’ roll reinvention of his own, so watch this space – ELLE will be revealing further details of the Music Project as we see them.
