The husband-and-wife design team has been heading the label for eight years. No reason has been given for their departure but, in a parting statement, they say, ‘We are grateful for the opportunity that Andrew gave us to re-establish Helmut Lang. We will always have a deep affection for the brand.’

As for who will replace them? The in-house design team will take charge of the resort 2014 collection and a successor is not expected to be appointed for another few months. Which gives us plenty of time to play our favourite guessing game.
