matriarch Daniella Helayel has left the company.

Famed for her dressing of London’s social scene (the blue wrap dress that Kate Middleton wore to show of her new engagement ring will see her into fashion history), Helayel has parted ways with the label she founded in 2001.

‘The time has come for me to move on to focus on my art, travel and other interests,’ Helayel explains. ‘Creating Issa has been one of the most rewarding things in my life. I may be leaving, but the Issa girl will live forever in my heart.’

She will be succeeded by Blue Farrier, who worked under Phoebe Philo at Chloe and is an alumnus of core Brit brands such as Stella McCartney and Anya Hindmarch.

Says Angelina Ypma, who took over last year as chief executive officer of Issa London, in an interview with WWD: ‘I am [pleased] to welcome Blue as the new creative director of Issa at such an exciting time. Her vision and passion will be vital as we expand into new categories and markets and continue the development of Issa into a truly global lifestyle brand.’

High up on her list of priorities? Nailing Issa’s collaboration with Banana Republic. The 40-piece collection will hit stores on 6 August.
