Paris designer Jean Paul Gaultier is set to design a streetwear line.
The collection will be distributed by Italian clothing manufacturer Itteirre SpA, who have not only worked on diffusion lines with Dolce & Gabbana, Roberto Cavalli and Versace in the past, but also have plans to manufacture lines with Karl Lagerfeld, Balmain and Aquascutum in the future.
This will be the fourth diffusion line the designer has put out since he launched his own brand in 1976, having previously launched Junior Gaultier in 1988, Gaultier Jeans in 1992 and Gaultier Puissance 2 (Gaultier to the Power of 2) in 2006.
So what can we expect from this new collection? As Gaultier is famed for taking inspiration from music and theatre, we think there will be rock influenced pieces infused with his typical French style – think stripy Breton T-shirts with a glamorous twist. They won’t be available for quite some time, however, as the line – which is not yet named – will not be released worldwide until spring 2014.
