Our first response when we heard that Joan Burstein, founder of Browns and London fashion matriarch had recorded a Queen’s speech-style film about the year in fashion? Why hasn’t this happened before?!

The film in question is as brilliant as you hope it will be. It's produced by SHOWstudio and inspired by the Queen’s 1987 speech. Mrs B, sat behind a writing desk with a Christmas tree on one side and family photos on the other, talks about the year’s big industry news – JW Anderson, and Nicholas Kirkwood receiving financial backing – and singles out and for special praise. She even has a Bruce Forsyth moment at the end.

'It took some persuasion and the experience was a little daunting, particularly as i was very keen to ensure anything we did was very respectful to HRH the Queen,' Says Burstein. 'It was lovely though to have the opportunity to wish a wider audience a happy holiday and I hope we it will be well received.'

This needs to be an annual tradition from this moment on. Watch it below.
