The designer plans to introduce Julien Macdonald Bespoke, a new arm of his business specialising in made-to-measure service from an in-house atelier, early next year.
‘I’m really excited about setting up the atelier,’ Macdonald told WWD. ‘I’ve always tried to source UK fabrics and use UK manufacturers for my [ready-to-wear] collections, so having a dedicated in-house atelier to produce made-in-Britain pieces for my clients is a dream come true.
‘Working closely with a client to create a special outfit is so much fun, and I love the idea of being able to do more of that.’
Macdonald will establish his atelier at the Savile Row townhouse that already serves as his headquarters.
