If rumours are true, then Christophe Decarnin is to re-purpose his Autumn/Winter 2010 collection for the famously fashion-obsessed rapper. In recent years, West has become a fixture front row at Balmain, as well as most key shows during fashion week. His tweets have poured over shows both current and past, like the Versace SS11 collection which he praised effusively with the words: "These patterns are crazy.... It's hood. It's soulful. It's decadent. It's tasteful." Alexander McQueen is another favourite, deemed "Super fresh ass", "hard" and "dope".
Although his tour wardrobes are likely to come from Decarnin's menswear line, we can envisage the more gilded elements of the AW10 womenswear collection suiting the ostentatious rapper, with their echoes of Michael Jackson's own celebrated tour wardrobes. With Decarnin's genius for show-stopping style, and West's taste for high octane glamour, we are very much looking forward to seeing how this potential collaboration plays out.
