As Kate Moss gears up to collect her Special Recognition Award at the British Fashion Awards tonight, Playboy is joining the celebrations – with a special early unveiling of her eagerly anticipated cover.

Mert Alas, one half of the duo who shot the super for the special 60th anniversary issue, yesterday instagrammed a pic of Kate clutching the issue, which shows her looking over her shoulder in full-on bunny garb (and a pair of Saint Laurent Paris Escarpin pumps), her signature running across the front.

‘Sixty years ago, I created Playboy magazine with an intent to reflect on and influence the cultural changes taking place in America, as well as to become the voice of sophisticated men all over the world,’ said founder and editor-in-chief Hugh M. Hefner today.

‘From its beginning, Playboy has stood for freedom of speech, freedom of choice and freedom of the press. I am so proud to celebrate this anniversary as the magazine continues its mission to promote these core values many decades later.’

We confess to being underwhelmed with the first shot of Moss for Playboy we saw – but we remain hopeful that the editorial spread will wow us.

We're also pretty psyched about the fact that Marc Jacobs is feting the special January/February double issue, along with Kate's fast-approaching 40th, with a post-BFA party in London tonight. Stay tuned to ELLE (and @ELLEUK) for all the news and pics.
