From Croyden to catwalk, Kate Moss' career trajectory has been legendary - and the British Fashion Council will tip her the nod for her services to super with a Special Recognition Award at this year's British Fashion Awards.

Just ahead of her 40th birthday, the model extraordinaire is to have her 25-year anniversary applauded by starriest names in the industry as they gather in the London Coliseum on Monday night to celebrate all things British fashion.

'From the very beginning Kate was iconic; she never had to become a model,' said Donatella Versace of the news. 'She has the same energy, the same seduction and the same wit - infront of the camera and with everyone. I love you, Kate!'

Adds another star collaborator, Mario Testino: 'Kate Moss has made many people dream. And not only people that look at fashion but those that create it as well. The moment she puts on an outfit, it takes another identity. She adds personality to fashion and I, personally, can never get enough of her.'

Naturally, this isn't the first time Kate the Great will scoop a British Fashion Award; she won Model of the Year in in 2006 and in 2009 was the first person to receive a British Fashion Award decided entirely by public vote, too.

Fashion critic Suzy Menkes will also win a Special Recognition Award at this year's ceremony, while it remains to be seen which of the heavyweight nominees - among them Victoria Beckham, Prada, Marc Jacobs, Christopher Kane, Tom Ford and Cara Delevingne - will emerge triumphant on the night. Three sleeps and counting...
