It’s no secret Lady Gaga loves to dress up - that meat dress, those hats, the Applause face paint.
But for her latest gig Gaga has taken on a familiar guise. The singer is the face of Versace’s spring / summer 2014 campaign and bares a striking resemblance to Donatella, with tanned skin and long, poker straight blonde hair that has become the designer’s signature style. The brand said in a statement, '
Lady Gaga appears as her divine and glamorous self, reclining on luxurious furniture, her long hair Versace platinum blonde. The campaign shows how Lady Gaga completely captures the Versace essence: creative, experimental, fearless'.
Label director Donatella Versace added, ‘I am honoured that my friend Lady Gaga is the face of our new Versace campaign.
I wanted to capture her true beauty and spirit in images that are elegant and alluring. She is like family to me, the embodiment of the Versace DNA,’ she added.
Lady Gaga shared the news with her Twitter followers saying, ‘I’m so happy to be working w/ @Versace for the new Campaign! What do you wanna wear this Spring? #Donatella #famiglia'.
The fashion house tweeted out the new campaign image, shot by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott with hair by Garren and make-up by Lucia Pieroni, along with the hashtag #VersaceLovesGaga.
The growing friendship began when Lady Gaga wore archive Versace pieces in her video for trace Edge of Glory, with the singer titling a song on her ARTPOP album 'Donatella' after her friend.
