The fashion world went into mourning, not to mention a stockpiling frenzy, in 2008 when Polaroid announced that it was discontinuing its iconic instant camera. And then rumours started swirling that the photographer’s favourite could be revived. Now Polaroid has brought pop's most outrageous performer on board, appointing her creative director and inventor of speciality projects – and everyone’s keeping their fingers crossed that the instant camera will be hitting the shelves once more.
Apparently an official announcement will be made today, but Lady Gaga has already said, ' The Haus of Gaga has been developing prototypes in the vein of fashion/technology/photography innovation - blending the iconic history of Polaroid and instant film with the digital era'. And while we have no idea what she means, there's no denying that she's brimming with creativity, so whatever she comes up with is bound to be worth paying attention to.
In other Lady Gaga news we also hear that she will be kicking off New York fashion week in February with a performance at the annual amfAR dinner. She won over style setters in September with her appearance at Marc Jacob’s party, and has since become something of a fashion fixture. We can’t wait…
