This morning specualtion can end as the luxe label's chief executive, Giovanni Pungetti, has revealed what everyone really knew - that Martin Margiela no longer works for the fashion house. The notoriously secretive designer has apparently developed a passion for painting and has decided to relinquish the world of fashion for that of art.
Which leaves one last question - who will step into his avant-garde shoes? The answer is no-one. The label had apparently considered recruiting Raf Simons or Haider Ackermann but has decided to continue without a creative director at its helm. Margiela's 'right hand man' of over 19 years will lead the team of designers.
