'I'm a working mum so I'm always going to be inspired by my family and what's going on at home,' says Victoria Beckham of her husband David and kids Harper, Cruz, Romeo and Brooklyn who all sat front row.
'This collection is an evolution of my personal style,' she explained. 'I looked back at things I designed years ago and loved and reworked them.'
Here are three key takeaways from the show…
1) Three words: Stripes, checks and plaids
All three patterns are autumn/winter perennials and Victoria delivered a fresh take on them by using the print mixing to amplify her exaggerated, rounded shapes on coats, dresses and skirts. The masculine prints and feminine silhouettes combined to form what she called a 'boyish femininity'.
2) A bustier you'll want to wear to work
As a working mother of four, Victoria Beckham has developed a unique knack for making distinctly sexy pieces seem completely wearable. This is a woman who was once known for wearing impossibly high platform heels. And today she's wearing trainers. That sense of ease and mobility carried through the clothes, right down to the corsets.
A bustier from 9am to 9pm? It's wholly possible here.
Victoria's were soft rather than restrictive and, when worn over knitted long-sleeve tees or built into dresses, they looked like the kind of thing that would make just as much sense in the office as on a night out.
3) Go ahead and keep stocking up on ribbed knits
Good news for all of you who have invested in light, easy, layerable knits: they'll continue to be key next autumn.
Here they were long and lean: trousers that skimmed the legs and lightly hugged the ankles, for example, and elegant skirts. Your work wardrobe just got a lot more comfortable.
