Who would you like to invite to your dream dinner party? Gwyneth Paltrow, Cameron Diaz and Mr Tom Ford might be on a fashion fan’s fantasy guestlist, but when you’re Anna Wintour on a fund raising mission for President Obama, it’s the reality.

Others to attend the bijoux and private - with no press invited - dinner at Mark’s club in Mayfair, included Natalie Massenet, founder of Net-a-Porter and new chair of the BFC dressed in Yves Saint Laurent and Downton Abbey actress, Elizabeth McGovern, reported The Guardian newspaper.

The wealthy invitees, it is said, paid $15,000 each for the chance to spend the intimate evening in the company of the fashion and film stars at the Obama Victory Fundraising dinner.

Anna Wintour is a major player in President Obama's campaign fund raising effort, this being the fourth such dinner she has arranged this year. Another of her partners in politics is Sarah Jessica Parker, and apparently this was the first fundraiser Gwynneth and Tom Ford have hosted, although they are both regular donors to the campaign.

If Barack Obama doesn’t succeed in re-election this year, the White House is destined to be a far less glamorous place in the future, that’s for sure.
