A prolific booster of emerging British designers, Kennedy cultivated the early careers of designers including Jonathan Saunders , Richard Nicoll and Meadham Kirchhoff .
Also honoured with MBEs were shoe designer Emma Hope and Links of London and Annouschka founders John Ayton and Annoushka Ducas.
Barbara Hulanicki , founder of Biba and a designer of collections for Topshop , Habitat and George at Asda, was awarded an OBE for her services to the fashion industry. ‘I’m just absolutely thrilled. It’s thrilling for a Polish person to get an award like that from the Queen ,’ Hulanicki told WWD .
