Ralph Lauren Tweed Run

We’re talking about getting on your bike, which is an even more attractive option this weekend because Ralph Lauren are hosting the annual Tweed Run, a large scale recreational bike ride through London, which began in 2009 as a bit of fun for charity amongst cycling and vintage enthusiasts. Founder Ted Young-Ing was clearly on to something, as last year’s retro ride gathered over 400 ladies and gents wearing three piece plus-fours and perky cloche hats to meander their way through London town. And what a jolly event it was!

This year, Ralph Lauren Rugby - ever ahead of all things raffish and refined - is sponsoring the event, so cyclists can expect the run to be even more sophisticated and fun-filled than the last. There will be tea and sandwiches. There will be prizes (Best Vintage Bicycle, Most Dapper Chap and Most Dashing Dame). There will even be limited edition Ralph Lauren Rugby products to appeal to the cycling set (silk scarves and flasks anyone?).

This year, the Tweed Run aims to raise funds for World Bicycle Relief, an organisation which, is providing 50,000 bicycles to improve rural Zambian children's access to education. What better excuse could there be to dust off the old Pashley enjoy the ride?

The Tweed run begins with breakfast for 500 participants at the Rugby Ralph Lauren store in Covent Garden.
