This season she unveiled the latest Red Label collection in the imposing surroundings of London’s Royal Courts of Justice, which meant that editors and buyers had to pass through the metal detectors before taking to their seats - havoc for the more studded amongst them.
The front row was worthy of plenty of paparazzi flashbulbs; Matt Smith, the current Doctor Who, was there to support girlfriend Daisy Lowe, who took to the catwalk, Jaime Winstone bought her mum, Boy George bought a PVC clad dominatrix, and Boris Becker bought his son.
On the runway there was no sign of the rumoured Christina Hendricks, but we did spot Daisy Lowe, Jacquetta Wheeler and Alex Wek. But it was hard to tell who was walking thanks to the eccentric hair and make-up - backcombed, flyaway beehives and lipstick and eyeshadow that had the smeared look of a five year old running riot with a cosmetics bag. The collection’s theme was, unsurprisingly Britain, with a dash of Alice in Wonderland thrown in for good measure. The clothes were all that you would expect from Westwood - chalk striped tailoring, mismatched seams, draped dresses and checked capes. And this season the Dame is championing British wool so there was plenty of knitwear to choose from too, from little cardigans to knitted capes. It may not convert anyone who's not already a fan, but her cult following will love it.
