Leather pieces punctuated nearly every look, from gloves to mid-skirts, sleeveless belted blazers to leggings. These were mixed with the print of the season: vaguely Roma-feeling embroidery edged in gold chain, for an effect that winked at the renaissance of ‘80s Versace-style patterns.

The print went 3D as an embroidered breastplate on a dress of metallic brocade. Stylist Tiina Laakkonen dialled down the lux look by topping it with a cardigan.

About that: the stars here were the knits. Raglan-sleeved jumpers with channels of a finer-gauge knit at the shoulder seams were sportif yet polished. Whether colour-blocked in claret and cobalt blue or made up in more neutral tones, they looked like the pieces most certain to make their way into the audience’s wardrobes.

Oh, and the double-breasted red coat? We’ll take two.
