Alexa Chung – wearing a Christopher Kane dress layered over a white shirt - hosted the event, at which Kane was named Scottish Fashion Designer of the Year.
‘I am extremely proud and grateful to receive my award,’ said Kane, who beat his contemporaries Jonathan Saunders, Louise Gray and Holly Fulton to the prize. ‘I think that Scotland has such a wealth of great fashion talent from design through to production and the heritage is something that we should all be proud of.’
Karl Lagerfeld and Mario Testino tuned in via video messages as supermodel Stella Tennant was awarded the Hall of Fame Award for her 20-year career at the top of the modelling league tables.
Pop scion Tali Lennox scooped the Model of the Year Award, while Dr Who’s Karen Gillan was announced as the Scottish Fashion Icon of 2012.
As Louis Vuitton’s Creative Visual Director, Glasgow-born Faye MacLeod took home the Scottish Fashion Communicator of the Year Award, while the always immaculately turned-out Colin McDowell MBE was the recipient of the Fashion Ambassador Award.
And there was a fair amount of star power scattered among the fashion elite: Dolce & Gabbana model David Gandy, Amy Winehouse’s goddaughter Dionne Bromfield (who gave a performance), Scottish teen sensation Tallia Storm and Made in Chelsea’s Millie Mackintosh were all elbow-to-sporran with highfliers from fashionland.
