The Victoria & Albert Museum's run of killer fashion exhibitions is set to continue. Over the past couple of years they've tackled Italian glamour, wedding dresses, punk and David Bowie and next March they'll play host to Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty. Next on the list? Shoes: Pleasure and Pain, a look at extreme footwear and its transformative power.

Over 200 pairs of shoes from around the world will be on display and, as the title suggests, they're not going  to be comfy, day-to-day pieces.

The exhibition will cover three themes, Transformation, Status and Seduction. The museum is raiding its archives, breaking out everything from sandals worn in Ancient Egypt to Queen Victoria's shoes as well as contemporary pieces worn by Sarah Jessica Parker and Daphne Guinness. The most note-worthy shoe designers will all be name-checked too; creations from Manolo Blahnik, Christian Louboutin, Jimmy Choo and Prada will be on display.

Shoes: Pleasure and Pain will run from 13 June 2015 to 31 January 2016. Visit vam.ac.uk/shoes for more details
