The collection, named after Temperley’s home county, met John Lewis’s weekly sales targets and racked up eleven times the usual sales rates expected for a new brand within its first afternoon on the shop floor.
‘Alice and I are thrilled by customers’ enthusiasm for the Somerset by Alice Temperley brand,’ said Jo Hooper, John Lewis head of buying. ‘These levels of sales for a brand launch are totally unprecedented at John Lewis.’
But not to worry if you missed out on this exclusive designer partnership, as Alice is set to release a second line for the department store in early October. Expect jacquard knits, leather trousers and party dresses perfect for the upcoming festive season.
