Tamara Mellon departs Jimmy Choo

Mellon, who held the title of Chief Creative Officer but no longer owned a stake in the company, will leave Jimmy Choo at the end of November. Chief Executive Joshua Shulman will follow her out of office in early 2012.

The exits come five months after Labelux bought Jimmy Choo from TowerBrook Capital for £500m. The Italian luxury fashion group also owns Bally, Belstaff and Derek Lam, and is understood to want to ramp up Jimmy Choo’s growth in the US and Asia.

A statement from Labelux said that Mellon and Shulman were leaving ‘to pursue independent careers.’

‘Jimmy Choo is an outstanding brand with enormous growth potential and the ability to deliver material growth synergies across our group,’ Labelux Chief Executive Officer Reinhard Mieck said. ‘Tamara and Josh created a world-class, customer-oriented business with great creative and executive depth and leave it strongly positioned to capitalise on the opportunities within Labelux. With a successful transition behind them, we respect their wish to move on to other challenges whilst being proud supporters of Jimmy Choo’s continuing success.’
