The lights have been switched on, Starbucks coffee cups have turned red and al fresco Pinot Grigios have become fireside mulled wines. Yet as the big day approaches, some children will be without a hot meal, warm clothes and a single gift to open at Christmas.

Along with fashion designer Bella Freud and stylist Pippa Vosper, ELLE is supporting the Kids Company Christmas appeal to turn Christmas day into a magical day to remember for disadvantaged youngsters.

‘Bella Freud and I are passionate supporters of Kids Company and when speaking with Bella, she highlighted the true level of deprivation and loneliness tens of thousands of little children and teens feel at this time of year,’ Pippa tells us. ‘Being a mother myself, it was unimaginable that I would not work with Kids Company for such a worthy, heartfelt cause this Christmas and I only hope that we are able to give the children and teens a wonderful gift they will love on Christmas Day.’

The charity is holding a huge party for 4,000 children (complete with games, storytelling, a Santa’s grotto and a Christmas dinner), as well as playing Santa to over 7,000 under-privileged children.

To make this happen, Kids Co desperately need food and gift parcels. Join us in helping this brilliant charity by sending new gifts directly to Kids Company, or donating gifts via the Kids Company John Lewis gift list.

Monetary donations are also urgently needed to provide a meal and transport on the day. Click here to read the full explanation of just where the money is going.

There are a number of other ways you can help Kids Co make this Christmas really special too, from fundraising to send e-cards.
