Nearly six months have elapsed since Christian Dior lost its designer, and this week, a new name entered the Galliano-replacement ring: Marc Jacob s. It’s thought that Jacobs, who leads Louis Vuitton along with his own labels, would be an attractive brand-builder to Dior bosses. But will there be polka dots ?
Beyond the Jacobs buzz, fashion TV developments and left-field brand collaborations punctuated the week. First up was more news about Alexa Chung’s Project Runway-esque reality show —but where things really got ‘OMG that makes so much sense!’ exciting was when we learned that Lady Gaga will guest-star on The Simpsons . On the collaborations front, Missoni announced that it would design the interiors of a condominium development in—of all places—Manila. And World: you’re going to get a chance to meet Fendi’s high-fashion Maserati .
We were also treated to a couple of premieres. The much-anticipated One Day opened on UK screens . Star Anne Hathaway wore Alexander McQueen Resort 2012 to the London premiere. Florence and the Machine, who are probably sick of singing ‘Dog Days’, announced that they'll release their second album in November and released a preview track from the as-yet-unnamed record .
