Tom Ford gave an interview in yesterday’s Evening Standard which threw up some interesting facts. He talked about being teetotal after years spent as a ‘very highly functioning alcoholic’; he talked about supplementing his super healthy diet of fish and vegetables with Percy Pigs and doughnuts; and about how, rather than his evenings being a whirl of glamorous parties, he’s ‘…at home having dinner with Richard and Jack and we’re probably going to watch television after dinner and I’m going to be in bed by 10pm or 10.30pm.
The one that really caught our eye, though? The details of just how he keeps his grey hairs in check. ‘When I got up this morning I was going to trim my beard because I knew I was having this interview and I needed to look good,’ he said. ‘It’s going quite grey, which I sometimes camouflage with Just For Men beard dye — do not put that in the article! — and I just didn’t even have the energy.’ Could the hair dye brand have a more sophisticated and stylish pin-up? We think not.
