Americans have a reputation for liking things super-sized and it seems that their high street shops are no exception, as Topshop has today announced plans to open a 40,000 square foot flagship store on New York's Fifth Avenue this autumn.

Plently of room to swing a cat, then, but not quite enough to swing the accolade of biggest Topshop store – that honour stays with the iconic London flagship (only five minutes walk from the ELLE office, and very convenient of a lunchtime), which comes in at a whopping 90,000 square feet.

Elsewhere, Topshop's expansion continues apace, with 15 more stores in 8 countries set to open over the next six months. So if you're still waiting for a local Toppers, it might well be on the way.
