Wedding costs are through the roof; apparently, £14,000 won’t even get you a tiara these days.

Not if the tiara in question is the gold and diamond creation that Victoria Beckham wore for her wedding to David in 1999, at least.

The crown-like headpiece failed to sell at Bonhams last week when its estimate of £18,000-£25,000 wasn’t achieved – despite a cool £14,000 being put on the table.

Fear not, though, the Beckhams are not in dire financial straights. It was offered for sale by its designer, Slim Barrett, to whom it was returned after the big day.

According to WWD today, Bonhams has now done likewise.
