Anyone else interested in seeing what Slimane has in mind for the future of the fashion house—so, everyone—will have to wait until autumn 2012, when the designer will make his first full-scale outing for YSL at Paris Fashion Week.

A round of buying appointments of the ‘transitional’ resort and menswear collections, as a spokeswoman described them to the industry paper, ensures that all of Paris will be abuzz with curiosity before Slimane’s S/S ’13 show.

Slimane was appointed YSL's new creative director in March, succeeding Stefano Pilati. Originally feted for changing the shape of menswear (literally—he's behind the shift to slimmer cuts), Slimane shunned the fashion world and moved to Los Angeles to pursue photography after seven years at Dior Homme.

We’re not sure his latest move is a canny anticipation-building tactic, or just plain mean. One thing is certain—no one likes to be kept waiting, even for Mr Slimane. Right?
