Despite having modelled for Agent Provocateur, Esprit and Vivienne Westwood, Daisy revealed that she has issues with her body. ‘I’m just as self conscious as any one else, I always feel like I’m too big but then I have a reality check and think, actually, it’s ok.’ And she doesn’t mind being constantly referred to as a ‘curvy’ model. She says ‘I think that we should be excited about female form because a woman’s body is a beautiful thing, and yes skinny girls are really beautiful too, but so are girls that have a bit more weight on them. I love curvy girls!’
Last night we caught up with Daisy at the launch of her brand new jewellery collection for Swarovski CRYSTALLIZED. The model, as ever, looked amazing dressed in a new season Christopher Kane dress and leather jacket teamed with Rupert Sanderson shoes and a Chanel red patent bag - and of course her own jewellery. And we can report our first official sighting of the much coveted Chanel tattoo's. Daisy was sporting a chain around her left thigh. We're very jealous.
And she didn’t just talk to us about her figure – here’s what else we discovered:
She loves Browns, Kokon to Zai and Rellik but her favourite store right now is the French cooking shop on the corner of her road. ‘I just got the most incredible apron there that’s like a dress that you can wear with just a bra and knickers – it’s amazing.’
She’s a brilliant cook (all around her agreed heartily at this point). She said ‘I make a really good roast dinner that’s my signature dish, and I’m really good at chilli too. And I did a really good vegetable quinois the other night with roast lamb.’ We really had to suppress the urge to angle for a supper invite.
As a model, DJ and designer, Daisy loves that she gets to do so many different jobs. ‘I think if I ever stuck to one career path I think I’d go mad. I need lots of things going on all the time’. And if she could do anything else she would choose marine biologist, archaeologist or, our personal favourite, dry cleaner. ‘My mum used to hang out in the dry cleaning shop and when I was little I thought it was cool. And I really like cleanliness,’ she laughed.
And finally, she will be putting in an appearance at fashion week, ‘…but it’s all secret, sorry!’
The Daisy Lowe for Swarovski CRYSTALLIZED collection was launched last night at a party co-hosted by uber-cool club night Ponystep in the Swarovski Crystalised store. The likes of Ben Gimes, Tallulah Adeyemi, Louise Gray and Pearl Lowe, as well as the London’s fashion crowd, sipped champagne and checked out the pieces. There are three to choose from - a necklace bracelet and earrings - all made up of silver chains and moon and star charms. Add them to your shopping list now.
Daisy Lowe for Swarovski CRYSTALLISED hits stores on 19 January. Visit www.swarovskicrystallized.com to find out more.
