Justin Timberlake’s world tour, The 20/20 Experience, hit London last week – and with it came the Justin Timberlake fashion experience.

To coincide with his London dates, William Rast – the label he founded in 2005 with BFF Trace Ayala – staged a ‘global relaunch’ in the capital, peppering social media with the hashtag #WhoIsWilliamRast and unveiling a tightly edited 12-look collection for a/w 2014 to press.

‘We’re not transforming the brand; we’re evolving it,’ the label’s no-nonsense (and über-glamorous) Italian designer Marcella Lindeberg told ELLE. ‘We took a break for logistical reasons, but now we’re back and continuing our journey.’

The collection stays true to its Tennessee roots – think leather biker jackets over skinny jeans and boots, and plaid shirts, and fringing – but there’s a notable move into tailoring, with a couple of cool wool boyfriend coats styled with oversized, homespun scarves taking centre stage.

Eveningwear is also going to be a focus going forward, Lindeberg confirmed.

While Timberlake was otherwise engaged with the small matter of a sell-out show, Ayala spoke using ‘we’ instead of ‘I’, and insisted that – despite his insane schedule – he’s involved ‘every step of the way’.

‘He’s a perfectionist,’ he added. ‘Nothing goes without him.’

And, after all, a man can't wear a suit and tie all the time.
