Chloé has today announced that German designer Anna Bornhold has been awarded the prestigious Chloé prize after competing at the Festival D’Hyeres.
The festival, which is in its 30th year, has gained a reputation for showcasing and celebrating new talent after it was founded by Jean Pierre Blanc in 1985. Held in the small city of Hyeres on the south coast of France, it is home to one of the largest exhibitions of fashion and photography talent and hosts the annual Chloé prize.
As part of the competition, designers are invited by the company to design a capsule collection and a custom silhouette inspired by the spirit of Chloé, which is then judged by an international jury. So impressive were the entries this year, that the company has since announced it will continue to support future designers by extending its contract with the festival for another three years.
Bornhold’s winning design was a cream and blue ombre jumpsuit woven entirely from sewing thread, which she said she was inspired to design after imagining a voyage through space.
Chloé President Geoffrey de la Bourdonnaye said of the winner: 'Anna channeled the spirit of the Chloé girl with her nonchalance and modernity. Her true artisanal approach was youthful and had a natural elegance.'
Bornhold, who is due to graduate this year from University Of The Arts Breman, has won a 15,000 Euro prize fund, as well as becoming the face of the 'Class of 2015' on the brand’s social media sites.
