In case you haven't noticed, fashion has been championing a 90s revival in months of late.

From velvet chokers and lamé dresses to Stan Smith trainers and popper trousers, all we need is an East 17 comeback and John Major to announce he wants to rival Theresa May for us to hit peak Nineties nostalgia.

But in fashion, we all know that a little goes along way.

A birkenstock here.

A crop top there.

Subtle nods to the 90s trends we've come to love once again.

But, it looks like Kim Kardashian didn't get the memo as she's interpreted said nod as a repetitive head banging motion, like one of those annoying nodding dogs you often seen on the back seat of a car on the motorway.

Seriously, Kim. Chill.

We take a look at the 90s-inspired looks Kim's been styling in recent weeks:

1. AW16 velvet

The quintessential 90s trend continues to dominate street style looks from New York to London, and it's one that Kim has fully embraced.

During New York Fashion Week, she was seen wearing a figure-hugging, light-weight black velvet dress, teamed with platform snakeskin boots and black sunglasses.

But, in true Kim K fashion, she somehow managed to defy the laws of gravity by refusing to wear a bra, despite the dress's thin (very thin) spaghetti straps. For the rest of us, this would result in some very shocked looked on the tube, but for Kim it's just another Tuesday in the life of a Kardashian.

NASA called, they want your secret, Kim.

2. Bra tops

Everyone from Eva Chen to blogger Leandra Medine have been rocking the 'underwear as outwear' trend, with the most popular incarnations this year being the lace-trimmed slip dress and bra top.

But it looks like Kim may have missed the memo about wearing the underwear as a layer on top of your clothes. #Awkward

Meanwhile, husband Kanye West has decided to revive the unnecessarily oversized T-Shirt trend with Tupac's face on it so it could be worse, Kim.

3. Silver

This year's Met Gala's 'Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology' themed event proved silver was the colour of the season. Taylor Swift rocked a short number by Louis Vuitton, Poppy Delevingne wore a bejeweled Marchesa gown. Heck, even Zayn sported some silver arms on the red carpet.

Ever the trend setter (yes, just go with it), Kim has decided to keep the silver trend alive.

All you need is some silver sequined fabric, a pair of scissors, an imagination and you too can look like a glitter ball.

4. Sheer fabric

So far, New York and London's runways have been filled with dreamy sheer layers of chiffon and organza from the likes of Marchesa and Bora Aksu.

But of course, Kim rocked the sheer trend weeks before at the MTV Music Awards and well and truly wrapped herself up in it

We jest – wrapping would include layers...

5. Mesh

'Nothing good can ever come from a woman in mesh', my mother once said. (Well, she didn't but I imagine she would if she'd seen this).

Now, if you've ever caught your bracelet on your favourite knitted jumper, you'll understand how tricky it is to free yourself from a potentially fashion threatening situation.

So spare a thought for Kim who seriously put herself in danger with this look, teaming blonde locks with a ankle-skimming black mesh-sleeved dress.

Heroes come in many forms, kids.

6. See-through dress

There's only one woman who can pull off a 90s silver see-through dress and that's Kate Moss. Period.

But, you can't blame Kim for trying, eh?

This has to be one of the star's boldest street style looks to date, pairing her scoop-neck see-through number with shiny silver Yeezy thigh-high boots and loose tousled curls.

And we thought we liked the 90s...
