It's fair to say that ever since we attended local town hall ballet lessons as a child, we've been obsessed with ballerinas. Anyone remember 'Nice toes, naughty toes'? Just us...

Cue years of watching re-runs of The Nutcracker and buying more nude ballet pumps than New Look could feasibly provide and our student loan could justifiably stretch to.

So when Molly Goddard topped this season's fashion week hype with her frothy, tulle confections, our inner girly girl rejoiced.

After seasons of oversized knit sleeves and Spice Girls style trackie tops, prettyness (and the ballerina skirts that come with it) has finally made a comeback.

And the high street has taken note.

Between Zara's tulle maxis and River Island's sheer frilled tops, there's been more ultra-feminine fabrics than we can shake our Gucci cat-handled walking stick at.

But the tulle-based trend we're most excited about? Ballerina jeans.

Among the new arrivals in Topshop's denim section are Tulle Hem Straight Leg Jeans (that also come in a skinny Jamie style) and our favourite, the Tulle Skirt Jamie Jeans.

Channelling the 90s skirt over trouser trend meets ballerina-style midi skirt, these are skinny jeans but not as you know them.
