The Street Style Stars
The catwalk? Its only half the fashion week story. Some of the most exciting clothes are to be found on the streets outside.
As the Fashion Week carousel begins to turn once again, all eyes will once again be focused on those street style stars who get the lenses flashing at every well-heeled step.
But who exactly are they?
Youll be seeing a lot more of these walking talking living lookbooks over the weeks to come, so let us introduce to you our favourite street style stars.
Miroslava Duma in Azzedine Alaia shoes at Paris Fashion Week Autumn Winter 2012.
The most recognisable of the Russian Fashion Pack, this pint-sized Russian doll was an editor for Harper’s Bazaar Russia and now works as a freelance fashion writer. Daughter of a senator and mother to a baby boy, she works a masterful mish-mash of catwalk looks which she always finishes off with a faint Mona Lisa smile.
Yasmin Sewell, Autumn Winter 2012.
Fashion consultant Yasmin Sewell is an Australian beauty who made waves in London as the buying director for Browns and then the Chief Creative Consultant for Liberty. She can always be relied upon to rock a sharp mannish blazer, some serious shades and - come evening - that Christopher Kane dress that nobody else is quite able to pull off.
Anne-Catherine Frey, Autumn Winter 2012.
New kid on the block Anne-Catherine is a fashion student, blogger and stylist for the Kooples. The Parisian works an effortlessly gamine look with her trademark bowl cut and strong eyebrows. Little details such as wearing a jumper as a skirt or adding a bowler hat set her apart.
Ada Kokosar attends the Giorgio Armani show, Milan Fashion Week, Autumn Winter 2012.
A half-Italian, half Slovenian stylist and fashion consultant, Ada Kokosar has been appearing with increasing regularity on all the best style blogs. Her mane of blonde hair and clever way with proportions are the calling cards to look out for.
Caroline Issa attends the Missoni show, Milan Fashion Week Autumn Winter 2012.
Brains, beauty, and a killer wardrobe to boot: Caroline Issa is an ex-management consultant who turned her sharp intelligence to fashion and now operates as executive fashion director of Tank, editor-in-chief of Because magazine and fashion director of the Tank Form consulting agency. A serious fashion powerhouse.
Eleonora Carisi in a DSquared coat with a Commes Des Garcons clutch, at Milan Fashion Week, Autumn Winter 2012.
Eleonora CarisiInstantly recognisable due to her trademark Cindy Crawford mole, the Italian blogger and store owner is best known for her masterful way with cartoon colour, and for that time she wore a sheer blouse with no bra to lunch in New York.
Hanneli Mustaparta matches a Valentino coat and bag with Stella McCartney boots, Paris Fashion Week Autumn Winter 2012.
Model-turned-photographer Mustaparta has unwittingly – or perhaps wittingly – got the lens turned firmly back on herself after a few seasons of stellar style statements. Watch how she works an ankle sock, a jaunty satchel and her trademark SLR camera with grace.
Model Hanne Gabi Odiele at Paris Fashion Week, Autumn Winter 2012.
A stalwart on the model-off-duty style scene, the Belgian beauty is like a bird of paradise in her style choices, ranging from colour-popping kimonos to grungy skater-girl getups and teeny tiny slashed rock-n’roll tees. A visual feast.
Fashion blogger Susie Lau at Paris Fashion Week Autumn Winter 2012.
Essential subject of study for the fashion trainspotter. The original of the fashion blogger species, Susanna Lau has an extraordinary way of putting things together and championing new designers which puts her at the very pinnacle of the pyramid of fashion influence.
Taylor Tomasi Hill attends the Missoni show, Milan Fashion Week Autumn Winter 2012.
This flame-haired Artistic Director of Moda Operandi has an effortless way with layering. Plaid shirts with leather, spikes with chiffon and parkas with power-dresses - she looks like she rolled around in her walk-in wardrobe and emerged carried aloft on a golden chariot.
