By the time the sportswear trend we saw emerge at New York made an appearance on the Paris catwalks it had gained some polish. This was thanks in no small part to three of the city's star designers (all British women) Stella McCartney, Phoebe Philo at Celine and Hannah MacGibbon at Chloe. These girls know how women want to dress, and were influenced by the luxe, grown up looks that would have inspired them to become designers back in the 1980s. Cue easy to wear tailoring in the shape of slouchy high-waisted trousers, sophisticated boyfriend blazers, plus silk and lace separates that added femininity. The colour palette was simple yet chic, running the gamut of flesh tones from porcelain white to blush pink, with camel, tomato red, cornflower blue and chocolate adding subtle punch.
