It was a bit surreal traveling from show to show within the bubble of London Fashion Week as New York suffered a terrorist attack, England continued to brace itself for a tough economic Brexit, America erupted in another round of protests around police brutality, and Brangelina broke up (what is happening???)
This SS17 season, London Fashion Week felt like a safe haven of sorts, a place to see the world differently (as at Christopher Kane's reflection on time), escape to more glamorous eras past (as Erdem Moralioglu had us doing with his lineup of stunning dresses), get a glimpse of the future (Burberry proving that See Now Buy Now can in fact run smoothly), or simply plan the next beach getaway (Peter Pilotto's sweet Cuban flounces and frills.) And through it all: this optimistic streak of yellow.
These were clothes to lift the mood, clothes to remind us of the power in dressing the way we want to feel. Here are some of our favourites.
