Just when Bestival and Glastonbury-goers are beginning to branch out from the ubiquitous, synthetic flower-crown, Coachella comes around to remind us that festivals are a breeding ground for the Summer fashion cliché.

For some reason, the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival seems to have cemented, more than all of the others, its status as a fashion crime zone.

From the luridly fluorescent, to the indecently tasseled, all of the worst festival fashion faux pas can be found among the revellers.

As Coachella 2016 rolls around, here is a jolly look at some of the main offences, which can be expected over the next few days:

The Head Chain

The flower crown of the last few years - the Indian head chain has been everywhere at Coachella and Burning Man. For some reason, the Americans seem particularly enamoured with it, but that isn't to say it won't be winging its mildly offensive way over to European shores very soon.

A Healthy Dose of Metallic Transfer Tattoos

Like a cockroach in a microwave, these things determinedly refuse to die.

Tassels And Fringes

On everything including, but not limited to: bikini tops, shorts, sunglasses, boots, sandals, crossbody bags, headbands and earrings.

The Teeeeny Tiniest of Denim Shorts

Everybody knows a denim short is only festival-appropriate if you have to squint really hard to see it, right?

Dreamcatchers Galore

Literally nobody will be having nightmares in Coachella valley. Nobody.

And So, SO Much Cultural Appropriation

What is it about festivals that make people way less ashamed of totally ripping off the history and traditions of other people's ethnic backgrounds? Native American headdresses were debatable enough, but when you've strayed fully into rice paddy hat and dollar sign corn rows territory, you've definitely, inarguably gone too far.

Groan.
