Hot hues were big news on the catwalk for spring/summer 09. From candy colours to popping neons, the fashion future looks bright, as designers inspired us to rethink how to wear colour now. Some teamed bright shades such as pink and red with nude (Richard Nicoll), while others whipped all the colours of the rainbow into psychedelic patterns and prints bursting with colour from every seam (Basso and Brooke). At Dries Van Noten a full on optical assault featured clashing brights such as orange and purple. Accessories followed suit, in brilliant Technicolor. This is a mood-lifting look that is positive and confident and perfect for now. ELLE’s favourite piece? Topshop’s neon rimmed aviator shades.
